GISD to purchase 3 copiers for $70,423

The Gatesville Independent School District will spend $70,423 to replace three copy machines that are at the end of their service life.

"We have 35 Xerox machines that are owned by the school district," said Darrell Frazier, the district's chief financial officer. "In the fall of 2021, we entered into a contract with Benchmark – before that we were with Parsons (Office Systems).

"This is a very important tool for teachers, and Benchmark is doing a much better job of maintaining our copies. There was a supply chain issue which was unacceptable for the district. Benchmark found an alternative and it is working like a charm right now."

Frazier said the district typically purchases one of two copiers each year to replace aging machines.

"There are heavy duty machines that are meant to last," he said. The three that are being replaced were traded in to Parsons from Connally ISD, and they have a combined 20 million copies on them. They were giving us trouble."

Frazier said the new copiers will be placed at the elementary, intermediate and junior high schools.
