Team Gatesville, a delegation of Special Olympics Texas, provides year-round social opportunities, sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
Since the reopening of in-person activities, Team Gatesville has participated in four Area 12 meets, competing in bocce, basketball and track and field events. The team currently is preparing to compete at Summer State Games, set for May 12-15 at Morgan’s Wonderland Inclusive Park in San Antonio.
Heidi Clough, head of the delegation, said she and the team would like to thank the community of Gatesville and surrounding areas.
“We are humbled and grateful for the unparalleled kindness, prayers and support for our organization,” she said. “As the team does not receive any outside funding, this generosity is integral to our ability to serve and improve the well being and quality of life for our athletes.”
