Gatesville Chamber holds banquet

The Gatesville Chamber of Commerce held its annual member banquet on Saturday, Jan. 20 at the Gatesville Civic Center.

The chamber presented five awards to chosen members, along with six honorary certificates of appreciation.  The categories awarded at the banquet were for Business of the Year, People’s Choice Award, Director of the Year, Ambassador of the Year, and Citizen of the Year.

Various members from the chamber and the community helped present each award. The winners of each category for the 2023 year are as follows:

  • Scott’s Funeral Home as Business of the Year
  • Member Jo Ann Sugg as Citizen of the Year
  • Studebakers Pizza as People’s Choice Award
  • Tina Zimmerman as Director of the Year
  • Nancy Germain as Ambassador of the Year

“This year’s chamber banquet was a great success,” Chamber President Mason Matthews said in an email. “I want to thank all of those who attended and want to congratulate again all of the award winners. It is always important that every year the chamber showcases the outstanding businesses and volunteers that help serve our great community.”

Certificates of appreciation were also presented to six individuals who are no longer members but have contributed many years of service to the chamber:

  • Abi Cozart, 5 years
  • Monica Hinds, 8 Years
  • Scott Harper, 8 Years
  • Barbie Klecka, 8 Years
  • Susie Meelbusch, 10 Years
  • Lute Sullins, 10 Years

The purpose of the banquet is to honor the service and achievements of local businesses and individuals of the chamber. This year’s banquet featured a Las Vegas casino theme, which provided an evening full of entertainment that included games, cards, music, and drinks.
