Mrs. Billye Sue Sulzer Ramsey, age 84, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 15, 2024 in Gatesville.  A funeral service was held on Tuesday, February 20 at Cole Funeral Home in McGregor with Dr. Daniel Crosby officiating. Burial followed at Post Oak Cemetery near Oglesby.

Billye was born on April 18, 1939, in Talihina, Oklahoma to Lee Lester and Ollie Rosetta (Pearce) Sulzer. When her mother passed at an early age, 2-year-old Billye was raised by her uncle and aunt, Ernest and Ida Mae Sulzer. She graduated from Buffalo Valley High School. Billye married the love of her life, Stanley Lynn Ramsey, of Whitesboro, Oklahoma on Sept. 25, 1958 in Eufaula, Oklahoma. Billye and Stanley moved to Oglesby in 1960 where they lived the remainder of their married life and raised five children and one grandson.

Billye retired from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice in Gatesville in 1998 after 20 years of service.  She enjoyed spending time with her family, most of all her grandchildren. That time included many sporting events all over the state of Texas. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Oglesby.

She was preceded in death by her parents; uncle and aunt Ernest and Ida Mae Sulzer; husband, Stanley Lynn Ramsey; sister, Ina Ruth Hoglan; and grandson, Robbie Goins.

Billye is survived by Dana Ramsey (daughter), of Hodgen, Oklahoma; Gerald Lynn Ramsey (son) and Stacy, of Sparks; Teresa Timmons (daughter) and Scott, of Gatesville; Sherri Campbell (daughter) and Kenneth, of Marshall; Karen Hawk (daughter) and Michael, of Temple; Sylvia Graves (daughter), of San Angelo; David Clark (grandson) and Heather, of Waco; Tommy Goins (grandson), of Indiana; Cole Ramsey (grandson) and Jayme, of Little River-Academy; Liz Ramsey (granddaughter) and fiancé Brandon Boyer, of Temple; Preston Timmons (grandson), of Gatesville; Brooklyn Bailey (granddaughter) and Marte, of Gatesville; Lilly Timmons (granddaughter), of Gatesville; Krystal Bell (granddaughter) and James, of Belton; Branden Hawk (grandson) and Hailey, of Temple; Patricia Hoglan (sister), of Hooks; an incredible amount of great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Billye, Mom, Granny was the foundation for our family. She did not make a fuss but was instrumental in everything our family has become.  We already miss her deeply but know she is rejoicing with the Lord and all those who went before her.

Pallbearers included David Clark, Kenneth Campbell, Scott Timmons, Cole Ramsey, Branden Hawk, James Bell, and Marte Bailey.

We would like to express our sincerest appreciation for the staff of Hillside Medical Lodge for the love and care they gave our Mom the last few years.
