Mary Jane (Clemons) Hrdlicka Braziel of Sun City, Arizona, passed away on April 4, 2022, after a five-month battle with pancreatic cancer.

Mary is survived by her daughter Heidi (Eric) Friese of Peoria, Arizona and her son Scott Hrdlicka of Rome, New York; grandchildren Meagan Friese, Matthew Friese (Haley) with one great-grandchild on the way; and Alex Hrdlicka. She is survived by her brother, Gary Clemons (Karen) of Cleveland, Minnesota and her step-niece and nephew Heidi Jo Wells and Eddie Engelby. Her husband, Tony, step-niece Carrie Youngerberg and her nephew Joshua Clemons pre-deceased her.

Born on August 12, 1946, in Waseca, Minnesota, to Donald and Lorraine (Knish) Clemons. Affectionately known as “Janie,” she grew up in rural Waterville, Minnesota, on a farm. She attended school in the Waterville and graduated in 1964 and was a member of the National Honor Society.

In December 1964, she married George Hrdlicka and had two children. They divorced in 1995. In 1997, she married Tony Braziel.

Mary’s employment career began by working in the Le Sueur County Welfare Department as a secretary. Mary’s other employment opportunities included Rice County Clerk of Court; legal secretary in two law firms; secretary in two school systems; and lastly, 30 years as executive legal assistant at Carlson Companies in Minnetonka, Minnesota. Upon retirement in 2014, she and Tony moved to Gatesville.

She bowled on several leagues and won many awards her bowling achievements. She enjoyed scrapbooking, making greeting cards, going to casinos and crocheting afghans.

Mary’s remains have been cremated. At the request of the deceased, there will be no funeral service. In lieu of a gathering, Mary asks that those who crossed her path in life, share memories she left with her children.
