In the upstairs area of the Coryell Museum and Historical Center, visitors will notice a small wooden chair with a braided rope seat. What is unique about this chair is that it made two trips to Texas.

It has been said that the chair was handmade in 1836 in Alabama and brought to Texas by the Burwell Hood family who settled in the area around Fort Gates.
