Three jailers who worked for the Coryell County Sheriff's Office turned themselves in to face charges of tampering with government documents after an investigation by the Texas Rangers division of the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The investigation was launched after the death of jail inmate Castlee Noble, 55, who was found unresponsive at the jail and pronounced dead on Aug. 26.

The jailers were identified by the Coryell County District Attorney's Office as Thad Vincent, 29, Jordan Evans, 20 and Raymond Cain III, 36.

Sheriff Scott Williams said that the three jailers had previously not been responsible for any problems.

"None of them had been in trouble a day in their life," he said. "It's painful but we have got to do what's right every time. It's now up to the courts to make a decision on whether or not they are guilty."

District Attorney Dusty Boyd said the three "were indicted on several counts of tampering with government documents. Those offenses were discovered as a result of the investigation of the death of Mr. Noble."

Boyd said it has not been determined whether the offenses were related to Noble's death, and that additional information could not be released at this time because an investigation remains ongoing.
