Residents at Coryell Rehabliving at The Meadows receive high school diplomas

Posted

The Gatesville Chamber of Commerce Junior Ambassadors recently helped with a graduation ceremony held at Coryell Rehabliving at The Meadows for residents who never received their high school diplomas. The Jr. Ambassadors brought roses for each of the nine participating graduates, read aloud a little about each graduate, and honored them with their diplomas.

The graduates were honored by the year they would have graduated, starting in 1942 and going forward to 1992. The oldest person participating in the graduation ceremony was 98-year-old Lela Collins. She grew up in the Mosheim and Turnersville communities and served as a CNA for many years with Goodall Witcher Hospital in Clifton. Upon receiving her diploma, 80 years after the date she would have graduated, Collins said “Isn’t this nice?”
