Recognizing excellence in Gatesville schools

Posted

GATESVILLE INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT

At a recent GISD school board meeting, two individuals were recognized for their continuous contributions to the school.

STAFF SPOTLIGHT

Kris Raney, left, who leads the transportation department, was honored by the Gatesville Board of Trustees and placed in the “Staff Spotlight.” At left is GISD Supt. Dr. Barrett Pollard. Raney has worked tirelessly to keep the department running due to the extreme shortage of drivers and bus aides. Finding personnel has been difficult. In addition, it has been a heavy beginning of year traffic. Despite many hurdles, Raney remains calm under pressure and makes good decisions. He is very supportive of the drivers and campus principals and cares about getting the students home safely.

PARTNER SPOTLIGHT

Jana Dixon Carpenter, right, (pictured with GISD Supt. Dr. Barrett Pollard) has been recognized by the Gatesville ISD Board of Trustees. She is a faithful, lifelong Hornet fan and continuously supports the school district. Her most recent gesture occurred at the beginning of summer when she donated $600 toward the purchase of a new Buzz mascot uniform. She has taught gymnastics, dance and cheer to hundreds of students over the years. She has been a role model for many in Gatesville who have fond memories of her as an instructor. Her enthusiasm and support for GISD is very much appreciated.
