Pearl News 11.10.21

Does anyone else find it hard to believe that we are already in the midst of another holiday season and that this year is winding down very quickly?

Soon, if we haven’t seen it already, Christmas decorations will be brightening up the short days and long winter nights. I pray that everyone will be warm, well-fed, and enjoying excellent health during what we hope will be a joyous time of year with our families and friends. I know we won’t forget the reason for the season, which is the greatest blessing of all!

The Pearl Cemetery Association is still accepting donations to build a pavilion to protect funeral attendees from the often-harsh weather conditions during interments and services. You may send a personal donation or a donation in memory of a loved one to Pearl Cemetery Association, C/O Linda Ray, 1771 CR 152, Purmela, TX 76566. If you have any questions, you can contact Linda at 254-865-9282. Thank you in advance for your support!

Mark your calendars for Nov. 14th. There will be a potluck lunch and fundraiser for the Evant Fire Department at the Pearl Community Center. The day will begin with a worship service at 10 a.m. followed by games, fellowship, and the luncheon around 11:30 a.m. Bring your favorite dishes and friends and family to enjoy this day in Pearl. Everyone is invited. All proceeds from the donations will go to benefit the Evant Fire Department that serves the Pearl Community so well.

The next Pearl Bluegrass event and Pearl Cottage Bookstore Day will be Dec. 4. Everyone is invited to attend.

On a personal note, I want to thank Kay Pruett for surprising my grandkids and me with a delicious lunch last Friday. The kids and I were so excited to see Kay, and we appreciate all she does for Pearl and her friends. Then, on Sunday morning, Michelle Pruett brought me my phone that I had left in Goldthwaite the previous day. It was so very sweet of her to go all that way just to pick up my phone and then to bring me lunch that day, too. Michelle went above and beyond.

We enjoyed a sweet visit after she got back. I can’t promise anything, but I will try my best not to leave my phone ever again, Michelle. What a blessing friends and family are. Jesus says to love you neighbor as yourself, and what a blessing to see that demonstrated. There is no place like Pearl and the sweet people who make up this community.

The three churches in Pearl all welcome visitors anytime that they meet. The Pearl Community Fellowship Church meets at 9 a.m., the Pearl Baptist Church at 10 a.m., and the Pearl Church of Christ at 10:30 a.m.

Kay Pruett has cats that she would love to give to a good home. Some are bobtail cats. Kay says that it is best to take cats in a group and place them in barns/outbuildings and immediately feed them. They will then usually stay in the area. You can call Kay at 254-865-5864 for more information.

The closing verse for this week comes from Proverbs 11:25: Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered. ESV
