Finalist withdraws from city manager candidacy

The Gatesville City Council is taking another look at city manager candidates after finalist James Fisher abruptly withdrew himself from pursuit of the position on March 31.

Fisher was initially offered the position and was in Gatesville to possibly finalize the contract late last week, but told Acting City Manager Bill Parry and Mayor Gary Chumley that he was "not able to make it work" and ended negotiations with the mayor.

The Gatesville City Council had already scheduled a meeting for Monday, April 3 to potentially finalize a contract, but instead will use that meeting to discuss the city manager selection process.
