Sue McDaniel August 24, 1934 – May 14, 2023

Sue McDaniel, age 88, of Eddy, passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2023, with her family by her side. 

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 17, at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel.  Interment followed at Ater Cemetery.

Margaret Sue McDaniel was born on August 24, 1934, to the late Richard Morris and Helen Newton Morris of Morgan, Texas.  She grew up and attended school in Morgan.  After graduating from high school, she met the love of her life, J.G. (Glenn) McDaniel, and the two were married on February 3, 1953, in Meridian.  She and her husband traveled for several years before making their home in Jonesboro.  Sue devoted her life to her Christian faith, her husband, and her family.  She was the proud mother of seven children.  She was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing, cooking, and caring for her family, including making all her children’s clothing and caring for her family’s needs.  She never missed an opportunity to send encouraging words, cards, and letters, for any and all occasions.  Her hobbies included making dolls and their clothing, quilting, reading books, as well as being an avid fan of Texas Rangers baseball.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glen McDaniel; son, Wayne McDaniel; sisters, Helen Ruth Johnson; Bobbie Daniels; grandson, Ty Williams; and two infant sons, Johnny and Bruce.

Sue is survived by daughters, Linda Herring and husband, Bob; Connie Haferkamp and husband, James; Teresa Lantz and husband, Ray; Lisa Allen and husband, Richard; sons, Jim McDaniel and wife, Lorri; Bill McDaniel and wife, Caron; and daughter-in-law, Andra Powell; twenty-four grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Ater Cemetery Association.
