Wyatt Dunbar recognized for earning high score on PSAT

Posted

During the Feb. 19th meeting of the Gatesville Independent School District Board of Trustees, Wyatt Dunbar was honored during the Student Spotlight presentation.

GISD Superintendent Dr. Barrett Pollard had the following to say about Dunbar:

Wyatt Dunbar is one of our highest performing students at GHS. Recently, Wyatt learned that he is a National Merit Scholar Finalist after scoring a 1450 on his PSAT. He is ranked third in the senior class with a 4.38 GPA. He competes nationally in marksmanship contests much like his older sister and GHS grad, Jessie Dunbar.

We are also recognizing Wyatt tonight for his amazing accomplishments in band as a percussionist. The Association of Texas Small School Bands was pleased to announce the selection of the 2024 ATSSB All-State Band. More than 10,000 high school band students from across Texas auditioned in twenty-two different regions for a place in their respective all-region band. Wyatt is currently one of only 10 4A percussionists that has been selected, through two levels of competition, into the All State Band.

This is the highest honor that an individual can receive in an individual competition. Please help us congratulate Wyatt on this amazing accomplishment.
