--Tentative completion of restoration work at the Old Cotton Belt Railroad Depot was expected within 30 days.
--The Gatesville Hornets football team lost 7-19 to Waco High.
--Coryell County’s jail won Texas Commission on Jail Standards certification for the fifth consecutive time.
--Cujo and Star Trek were showing at the Drive-In in Gatesville.
--Becky Moore, 14, was picked as “Pepiteer of the Week” at the Hornet-Waco football game.
FIFTY YEARS AGO
--Coryell Memorial Hospital’s application for a certificate of need to build a new hospital was set to be considered by the health subcommittee of the Central Texas Council of Governments.
--Cotton ginning hit full stride over Coryell County, where the harvest continued to exceed mid-summer expectations.
--Earl Carpenter, of Gatesville, was named as a new patrolman on Gatesville’s police force.
--Celia Powell, of Gatesville, was selected to be on the Texas Christian University’s 1973-1974 Campus Alumni Board.
--Gatesville Watch Repair was renamed Haynes Jewelry and moved from 715 Main Street into quarters in the new White Auto Center at 1508 Main Street.
