Valentine auction and other events taking place in February

Posted

The auction will be held after services, Feb. 11, and the bidding will close at 1:30 p.m. If you would like to view the items for auction in advance, they will be out and ready to bid upon Feb. 4 through Feb. 10 in the fellowship rooms of the church. Among the numerous other items for bid are many pairs of new, men’s size 11 name brand shoes, including Adidas, Nike’s, etc., glassware, and crystal. I’ll give you more details about the bid items next week. Everyone is invited to participate, and you are always welcome at the Pearl Church of Christ. Services are held each Sunday at 10:30 a.m.

Ronald and Linda Ray would like to thank everyone for their prayers, cards, letters, phone calls, and food during Linda’s cancer treatments. You are greatly loved and appreciated. They would also like you to know that they are doing well as they continue treatments for the next six to eight months at Texas Oncology. Please continue to keep these dear ones in your prayers.

Pearl residents appreciate Multi-County Water for their hard work during the freezing cold weather. It was reported that the repairmen worked through the night to make sure the water service was restored! (I can’t imagine those harsh working conditions, and I bet they would appreciate a box of chocolates, or some such treat, if you have time to drop one by their office on Highway 84 west of Gatesville).

The next Pearl Cottage Bookstore Day is Feb. 3. The bookstore opens at 9 a.m. and closes at 3 p.m. Please pray for tolerable, warm weather for the bookstore ladies. They “like to have froze to death” (literally!) last bookstore day, but in their dedication, they stuck it out. The Pearl Community Center Bluegrass Day is also Feb. 3, but jamming usually starts the day before. Let’s hope for good weather for both of these events. There’s no place like Pearl!

This week’s Bible verse comes from Psalm 23, a passage even with which the smallest child is familiar. Today, I read these scriptures in the New Living Testament, and I was touched. I’ll give you just a taste of it, but I want you to be sure and look this up to read the whole Psalm in this version… “The Lord is my Shepherd; I have all that I need…Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me…”. Blessed assurance, indeed. (I use the free Bible Gateway app to access the different versions. Won’t cost you a cent, but you can pay for “extras” if you wish).

Pray!
