Sheriff candidates hold first debate

Posted

The three candidates in the running for Coryell County Sheriff gathered for a debate on Saturday, Feb. 17 at the Trinity Worship Center in Copperas Cove. The debate was sponsored by the Coryell County Republican Women organization.

Each candidate spoke on why they are seeking election or re-election and what makes them the best candidate for the job.

The incumbent, Coryell County Sheriff Scott Williams is seeking re-election to what would be his third term in office. His opponents are J.C. Buster and Danni Suniga – all three being Republican candidates.

There are no Democrat challengers to the Republican candidates in Coryell County, which means the Republicans will run unopposed in November.

Sheriff and congressional candidates were on hand at the Gatesville City Auditorium on Thursday, Feb. 22 to field questions on various issues and topics. Coverage of this event will be featured in a future edition of The Gatesville Messenger.

Early voting continues through March 1 and the polls open on March 5.
