Quarterly board meeting is Jan. 22

Posted

Don’t forget that Monday, Jan. 22, the Pearl Community Center quarterly board meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m., at the Community Center. The public is invited to attend.

We extend our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Lonnie Putnam who passed away earlier this month. We don’t have any word on services at this time, but we will keep you updated.

I was so fortunate to be able to watch my oldest granddaughter play basketball in Martinsville last Saturday. Her team, consisting of fourth and fifth grade girls, played twice and won both times. These girls have great coaches, and they demonstrated excellent teamwork. My granddaughter made ten points during each game, and I’m so thankful that she gets all her talent from her grandmother…. her other grandmother that is. Her dad, my oldest son, threatened to put me on a leash several times that day as he thinks I always veer to the left when walking and take the wrong turns every time we leave a building. (I only bumped into one person on the sidewalk this time and no injuries were reported).  Never mind that I literally can’t walk and chew gum at the same time. Thankfully, I have an attentive family who redirects my steps and protects the other people along my path. Plus, I have a Wonderful Father who watches over me night and day … even when my kiddos are nowhere around. Life is beautiful here in the Piney Woods, but there’s still no place like Pearl. I love you all!

This week’s Bible verse comes from Matthew 6:31-34: “So do not worry, saying, ‘what shall we drink?’ or ‘what shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your Heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” NIV

Please pray for continued blessings of rain, for our veterans and service men and women, our country, our schools, our local, state, and national government officials, our law officers, Christians throughout the world, and Israel. (My list just keeps getting longer, but I feel like you all add to it yourselves daily … and thank you for all those prayers.)
