Pruitt earns $10,000 Scholarship in Trap Shooting Competition

Complete results from 4-H youth competing at the San Antonio Stock Show

Local 4-H youth had the opportunity to participate in a variety of contests and shows at this year’s San Antonio Livestock Show and Rodeo.

The show concluded at the end of February with much success for our 4-H members. Brant Pruitt, a member of the Coryell 4-H Gun Club, claimed top honors in the Open Boys Junior Shootout Trap competition. Pruitt’s sharp-shooting skills netted him a $10,000 scholarship.

Other highlights from the show include Reserve Champion Landrace Gilt, shown by Canyon Smith, and 5th Overall Berkshire Gilt exhibited by Steven Bomar.

Placings for livestock and contests are as follows:

Livestock Show:

Junior Purebred Gilts- Steven Bomar- 1st place and 5th Overall Berkshire, Canyon Smith- 1st place and Reserve Champion Landrace, Paisley Wells- 4th place Berkshire, Justin Johnson-6th place Berkshire, and Kinlee Gardner- 6th place Spot

Junior Crossbred Gilts- Kinlee Gardner- 8th place and Steven Bomar- 7th place

Junior Breeding Heifers- Kallyn Moreland- 5th place Brahman, Charles Belt- 3rd place Brangus, Ivan Readett-9th place Hereford, and Thomas Belt- 3rd place Red Brangus

Market Barrows- Steven Bomar- 3rd place Duroc, Ryli Bryson- 5th place Cross

Contests:

Junior Shootout- Brant Pruitt- Champion Open Boys Trap

Consumer Decision Making- 3rd place Intermediate Team- Bailey Wolff, Makaylie Williams, Jozie Williams and Emily Wolff; Bailey Wollf was 2nd high individual.

The junior and senior horse and livestock judging teams also competed.
