The city of Gatesville and the Gatesville Police Department will host a come-and-go farewell reception for retiring police chief Nathan Gohlke. The reception is scheduled to be from 4 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 24, in the City Council Chambers at the Gatesville City Hall.

Gohlke is leaving law enforcement after 31 years in that line of work – including 29 as a licensed peace officer. Gohlke was sworn in as police chief on March 8, 2005 and has worked for the Gatesville Police Department since April of 1998.

A native of the area, Gohlke was a 1989 graduate of Gatesville High School. Following his graduation, he attended Sam Houston State University before deciding to move closer to home and finish his law enforcement degree at McLennan Community College in Waco.

In reflecting on his years in law enforcement, Gohlke said “Doing this job was something I was set on and passionate about.”

The public is invited to drop by and express appreciation to Gohlke during his retirement reception.
