In observance of New Year’s, many local businesses and governmental offices will be closed.
New Year’s Day is an annual holiday that is celebrated on Jan. 1, marking the beginning of the new year.
Many celebrate the holiday by attending gatherings with friends and family, and by participating in various traditions, such as making resolutions, giving gifts, and viewing fireworks displays.
Closings in the immediate area include:
GOVERNMENT
The City of Gatesville, the Coryell County Courthouse, and the Farm Service Agency will be closed on Monday, Jan. 1.
SCHOOLS
Gatesville Independent School District will be closed from Monday, Dec. 18 to Wednesday, Jan. 3. Jonesboro ISD will be closed from Thursday, Dec. 21 to Friday, Jan. 12. Oglesby ISD will be closed from Monday, Dec. 18 to Monday, Jan. 1. Evant ISD will be closed from Friday, Dec. 22 to Friday, Jan. 5. The Boys and Girls Club of Gatesville will be closed from Friday, Dec. 22 to Monday, Jan. 1.
FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS
Extraco Bank, Cadence Bank, Educator’s Credit Union, The First National Bank of Gatesville, Evant, and Oglesby will be closed on Monday, Jan. 1.
POST OFFICES
The post offices of Gatesville, Flat, Jonesboro, Oglesby, Evant, Mound, and Purmela will be closed on Monday, Jan. 1.
LIBRARY
The Gatesville Public Library will be closed on Monday, Jan. 1.
SENIOR CENTER
The Gatesville Senior and Multi-Service Center will be closed on Friday, Dec. 29 and Monday, Jan. 1.
NEWSPAPER
The Gatesville Messenger will be closed on Monday, Jan. 1.
