Angie Pearson and Alicia Meharg were recently named assistant principals for Gatesville Intermediate School for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year.

A 1994 graduate of Gatesville High School, Pearson received her Bachelor of Science degree and teaching certificate from Tarleton-Central Texas, and her Master of Education in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from University of Texas Arlington.

Pearson has spent 15 out of her 20 years in education as a classroom teacher and interventionist. For the past five years she has been an assistant principal at Temple Independent School District.

“I believe in the statement that it takes a village, and I am committed to forging the relationships with students, staff, families, and community members to ensure that all students meet their full growth potential. Gatesville is a special place to me, and my family, and I am so excited to be returning home to serve the community that I love,” Pearson said.

She and her husband, Jonathan, are the proud parents of their only son, John Riley Pearson, who graduated this year from Gatesville High School.

Meharg grew up in Stephenville and graduated from West Texas A&M University with a degree in Elementary Education. She has earned a master’s degree from Tarleton State University in Curriculum and Instruction as a Reading Specialist, and from Stephen F. Austin in Educational Leadership as well.

She has taught for 30 years across several districts including Itasca, Marble Falls, Iredell, Hillsboro, Gatesville, and Valley Mills. In her career she has taught and worked with students from kindergarten through seventh grade as a Reading Interventionist, Literacy Coordinator, and an Instructional Coach. She worked on our campus as the Instructional Coach this past school year.

She is married to Scott Meharg, and is the mother of three, a stepmother of two, and two grandsons. Her youngest just graduated from Gatesville High School and is heading to Tarleton in the fall.
