Mound lost one of its residents, William Wayne Coalston, who died on Thursday, May 4.  A celebration of life service was held on Wednesday at Scott’s Funeral Home.  Mr. Coalston will truly be missed in our community.

Several eighth graders of Mound attended their end of the year eighth grade gala Friday evening at the Civic Center in Gatesville.

Sophia Kelly of Gatesville spent the weekend in Mound with Allie McPherson.

Doris Hoff of Gatesville visited Saturday in Mound with Martha Lawhorn.

The McPherson Girls competed at the District Eight educational presentation competition in West and each one received a medal in their class/division.

Allie placed second in Intermediate Horse, and Anna placed third in Intermediate Health and Safety.

Kinsley placed third in Senior Horse and secured another state qualification. They are excited to attend her first 4H State Roundup, where she will be competing in Horse Quiz Bowl, Horse Judging, and either Hippology or Educational Presentations.  The McPherson family can’t wait to see what the future holds for Kinsley and her teammates in June.

Noah Truett Hopson, son of Paul and Rachel Hopson, won first place in the district with his fire prevention poster. His poster will be entered into the state competition in June.

Thomas Belt, Grady Keeton, Lillie Mann and Anna McPherson participated in the Gatesville Junior High School National Junior Honor Society’s fourth annual Induction Ceremony of the Bobby Cole Chapter Last Tuesday evening in Gatesville.  Several people of Mound attended the event.

Brodie Fisher and Hailey Meyers attended the Oglesby Junior/Senior Prom.  The king and queen of the prom were Aiden Gomez and Lacie Luckie.

The weekend guests of Frank and Susie Hopson were McKenzie David, Randy and Tracy Sage, Natalie Gonzalez, and Kelsey Sage.  Happy belated birthday to Natalie and Randy.

Ruby Pullen and her horse Stella qualified this weekend for the Mike and Sherry-lynn Johnson’s Vegas Tuffest Junior World Champion barrel race.  The race is held in Las Vegas in December.  She qualified in the 12U and the 19U.  Ruby Caroline Pullen is the niece of Barbara Hopson.

Elli, Jenson, and Molli Kinnear traveled to Cedar Park with their parents, Devan and Staci Kinnear, and grandparents, Tony and Theresa Kinnear to watch Disney on Ice on April 27.

The Barnard family had its annual Reunion Sunday.  There were 80 in attendance that represented 16 different Barnard families.

Mrs. Bettie Blakley of Pearl spent Monday with Carolyn Blakley.

Emma Blakley and Callie Goins went to Clarendon on Friday to watch Jenna Coward’s graduation.

Robert Blakley spent Saturday afternoon in Pearl with his mother, Mrs. Bettie Blakley.
