Mission Gatesville provides community with Thursday boxes

Posted

Beginning this October, Mission Gatesville is changing from a weekly bag to a monthly box per household. Thursday boxes will be passed out on the third Thursday of each month from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. located at 301 N. Lutterloh next to an open lot with the Mission Gatesville trailer.

The boxes will contain many of the same non-perishable items in addition to perishable items that are purchased or donated that month, such as eggs, bread, meat, vegetables, peanut butter, jelly, fruit, and more.

This will make it easier for community members in need to come only once per month, as well as giving Mission Gatesville plenty of time to gather food donations to pack. It allows Mission Gatesville to shift its focus onto other ministry programs such as hot meals.

Donations that are needed for the month of Oct. include:

-          150 cans of green beans

-          150 cans of corn

-          150 cans of ravioli or similar

-          150 packs of ramen

-          200 squeezable apple sauces

-          50 one-pound bags of beans

-          50 one-pound bags of rice

-          50 loaves of bread

-          50 dozen eggs

-          50 jars of jelly

-          50 three-pound bags of potatoes

Mission Gatesville is searching for churches, businesses, organizations, schools, and individuals that would like to donate food or make monetary donations. Contact Mission Gatesville or visit www.missiongatesville.org to sign up for monthly donations or to donate food.

Mission Gatesville was founded in late March 2023, and its mission is to feed people both physically and spiritually.
