Local Cub Scout honored with award

Posted

Local Cub Scout 7-year-old Case Jones has learned that hard work pays off as he made history last week in Cub Scout Pack 272. Case was awarded the Dr. Luis W. Alvarez Supernova due to his exemplary knowledge and work regarding STEAM. STEAM is an acronym that includes science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics. He learned how to build and launch rockets, how to code robots to perform tasks, the skills of an archeologist, wildlife preservation, and much more. The work required for this award took him all across Texas, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, and New Mexico. Case completed over 40 science experiments and recorded countless hours of information to prove or disprove his hypothesis for the subject. He was the first cub scout to earn this prestigious award in Pack 272 under the current leadership.
