The community of Gatesville is invited to experience the Let it Rain prayer event to be held on Saturday, Sept. 9, at 9 a.m., on the east side of the Coryell County Courthouse.
The event will cover 9 different areas of concern that will be lifted in prayer. Beginning Friday, Sept. 1 join in prayer as a different area is specifically addressed each day.
Friday, Sept. 1- Thankfulness for Blessings:Thank you, Jesus, for the blessing of showers that you sent upon our land. We praise you Lord as you make evident your love and care for us as you answer our prayers.
Saturday, Sept. 2- Spiritual Renewal and a Return to God: God, also fill us spiritually as only you can. Send rain to nourish and replenish us both physically and spiritually.
Sunday, Sept. 3- Protection from Wildfires: God, help us! Our land is incendiary, and we live in constant fear and watchfulness for wildfires. Our spiritual situation is like this as well. We need an outpouring of your rain - both physically and spiritually.
Monday, Sept. 4- Farming, Ranching, and Wildfire Areas: We pray for those who are the caretakers of our land. We also pray for those who guide our spiritual lives.
Tuesday, Sept. 5- Firefighters and EMS: Lord, protect and guide these brave souls.
Wednesday, Sept. 6- Relief and Protection from Heat-Related Effects: We pray for all who work outdoors, for the aged and medically challenged, those who have no air-condition, those who are homeless, those who are facing rising utility costs without means to pay. We pray for prison inmates and employees with no air-conditioning.
Thursday, Sept. 7- Repentance, Forgiveness (Actions, Speech, and Heart): Forgive us, Lord, and renew right spirits within us. Forgive us, Lord, for our sins and for how we as a people have strayed from you.
Friday, Sept. 8- Water and Energy Conservation, Rivers, and Lakes: Give us the wisdom to use our resources and blessings wisely.
Saturday, Sept. 9- Please join the community in Prayer for Rain: God, help us with more rain as we need it desperately for our parched fields and land. As we return, protect and nurture us under the umbrella of your care.
O Lord, our God, look down upon our dry lands and parched earth, and come quickly to save us. Send your clouds of living water to rain down upon us as your righteousness and love rains down upon our hearts. Amen.
