Kinsey wins steer class, Johnson named champion photographer at San Antonio

The three-week run of the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo concluded last Sunday with the Livestock Judging Contest. This was not before Coryell County 4-H member Lilly Kinsey placed first in her class of light weight Black Cross steers. There were 49 exhibitors who competed in the class. As a market steer participant, Kinsey qualified for the terminal auction the next day in San Antonio.

Other Coryell County 4-H youth who competed include:

Market Steers: Lane Kinsey, Thomas Belt (fourth place), Hubbard Kinsey, and Charles Belt.

Market Swine: Shelbi Bomar and Kinlee Gardner.

Market Lambs: Addyson Edwards won seventh place.

Breeding Gilts: Matti Mann, Lilly Mann, Canyon Smith (fourth and fifth place), Shelbi Bomar, Kinlee Gardner (sixth and seventh place), Justin Johnson, Memphis Wells, Paisley Wells (second and ninth place), Kace Laster (ninth place), and Landry Ohnheiser (ninth place).

Breeding Ewes: Breeze Buckner and Noah Haag.

Breeding Does: Bobbi Tubbs won sixth place.

Coryell County 4-H youth who competed in contests at San Antonio include:

Photography: Chelsea Johnson won Grand Champion Overall Intermediate, Best of Show Sporting, Catch All, Best of Show The Land, Nature/Landscape, Best of Show Living Things, People, Rodeo, and third place in sporting.

Horse Judging: Ava Hagen, Marcy Conley, Allie McPherson, and Isela Rodriguez won (Third Place Junior Team) Kinsley McPherson, Luwi Rodriguez, Irena Murphy, Mia Conley, Lacee Jordan, Dallas Clough, Taylor Coward (seniors) and Tyson Jackson-Smith, Samantha Hadley, and Remleigh Buttry.

Consumer Decision Making: Bobbi Tubbs (second place high individual) with team members Emily Wolff and Jozie Wolff placed second as an Intermediate Team, Bailey Wolff competed as a senior.

Livestock Judging: Clayton Gregory, Lane Kinsey, Ryli Bryson, Lilly Kinsey, Thomas Belt, Landry Mabry, Paislee Culler, Saydee Cullar, and Pete Wallace.

Shooting Sports: Dutch Nielson, Brant Pruitt, Branton Bell, and Rayce Kizer.
