GISD receives preliminary property values

The preliminary property values within the Gatesville Independent School District received from Coryell and Bell counties indicate a 14.3% increase, which amounts to $167.683 million.

This amount will likely be adjusted over the coming months, and the certified property values will be presented to the district in July.

"How this will impact the tax levy depends on what the state legislature does in June," said Darrell Frazier, chief financial officer for GISD. "There is talk about increasing homestead exemptions, we'll just have to see. There are a lot of important meetings going on (at the state level)."

Frazier said one of the things the legislature has discussed is limiting property value increases.
