Gatesville legend, philanthropist Charlie Wise dies

Charlie Wise, a well-known and respected citizen of Gatesville, passed away on Friday, Aug. 19 at the age of 94. Wise was well known for his philanthropy, good deeds, strong faith, and his hard work.

He was born in Coryell City in 1928, attended school in Arnett and Waco and would eventually graduate from Baylor University in 1955. Wise and his wife, Mary Alice, and their two children, Charles Ross and Kathy, returned to his hometown area of Gatesville in 1968 where Wise joined the leadership of Medical Plastics Laboratory. Charlie and his wife have been charter members of Trinity Baptist Church since 1976 and have helped literally thousands of people in the community.
