Folks Around Town

Posted

Say hello to our neighbor, Elizabeth Shoaf!

Elizabeth is the principal at Gatesville High School and is currently serving her first year. The best part of her job is getting to support and work with a campus filled with staff and students that are shaping the future. “I think the high school team is a perfect example of the proverb, it takes a village to raise a child,” Shoaf said. “They go out of their way each day to provide our students with experiences that enable them to be creative, challenged, discover their strengths, and set goals for the future.” She also expressed that Gatesville High School has an amazing student body that she is proud to call her “kids.”  She was raised in Gatesville and began teaching at the elementary school until she later transferred to the high school. Her favorite thing about Gatesville is the community’s commitment to supporting youth programs and rallying together when a family, group, or individual is facing challenges.

Elizabeth reads The Gatesville Messenger and said, “My favorite part of The Gatesville Messenger is the remember when section, it’s fun to read memories about the people I grew up with and know from the community,” Shoaf said. “I think you all do a great job of keeping the community informed and supporting the positive culture so many work hard to establish.”

If you happen to see Elizabeth around town, say hello! She is one of us!
