Daylight Savings Time begins Sunday

Posted

Saturday night everyone will need to set their clocks forward one hour to “spring ahead.” Daylight Savings Time begins on Sunday, March 12.

Daylight Savings Time in the United States is the practice of setting clocks forward by one hour when there is no longer daylight during the day, so that evenings have more daylight and mornings have less.

Most areas of the U.S. and Canada observe DST, with the exception being Arizona, Hawaii, American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The Uniform Time Act of 1966 established the system of uniform daylight savings throughout the U.S.

In the U.S., DST begins on the second Sunday in March and ends on the first Sunday in November, with the time changes occurring at 2 a.m. local time.
