Counselor makes strong impact at GJHS

Posted

Sometimes a new person can come into a situation and fit like a glove, making valuable contributions immediately.

That was the case for new Gatesville Junior High School counselor Staci Pruitt, who was recently honored during the Staff Spotlight presentation at the Gatesville Independent School District Board of Trustees meeting.

Pruitt had made his presence known in a positive way, quickly becoming a blessing to students and staff at the junior high campus.

"When we first met Staci Pruitt, we knew right away that we had found a perfect match for the junior high campus," said GJHS Principal Suzy Penrod. "Staci is a first-year counselor, but you would never know it. Not only had she quickly learned about the daunting tasks of scheduling and 504s (provisions that make specific accommodations for those with different needs), she willingly accepts any other task we ask her to do, too."

Despite the busy schedule and heavy workload, Pruitt focuses on keeping students as her top priority, Penrod said: "She does all this while making sure she is always available to students who need her. Staci has an extraordinary amount of patience and a huge heart for students. Plus, she has a fantastic sense of humor and keeps us laughing with her quick wit. Staci has been nothing short of a blessing to the junior high."

Penrod called Pruitt "a wonderful addition to our district. She is hard working, has a great attitude, and responds quickly to problems."

Superintendent Barrett Pollard said he hopes that Pruitt "stays with us for years to come."
