Coryell 4-H Youth Attend Summer Camps

Posted

Summertime is a busy time for 4-H members in Coryell County taking advantage of 4-H camp opportunities across the state. In June, nine high-school 4-H members spent three days in Burnet at the District 8 Leadership Lab Surge Camp. They participated in leadership workshops as well as recreation at Camp Buckner. Ninety-eight youths attended from 21 counties in the district. Thiele Alvarado and Cayleigh Coursey were elected as District 8 4-H Council Officers and will represent Coryell County at district-wide events and contests.

Attending County 4-H Camp at the Texas 4-H Conference Center in Brownwood were 14 4-H youths and two adults from the county. At 4-H camp, participants stay extremely active by participating in fun sessions during the day including: kayaking on Lake Brownwood, archery, low ropes course, leather crafts, rock wall climb, rifle range, and everyone’s favorite each night, the dance. 4-H members from all over the state attend each year and bring a rock from their home county to place in the Texas Star rock bed at the evening vespers program.
