Posted

The City of Gatesville will host an art exhibition called Art in the Shadow Saturday, April 6. The event will be held at Leaird’s Furniture & Appliance at 10 a.m.

The city encourages the entire community, regardless of age, to submit their artwork for selection by a committee in an art exhibition centered around the state of Texas and the upcoming solar eclipse.

Selected artists will be invited to display their work during the Block out the Sun Party for the solar eclipse.

The theme for the art exhibition will be anything related to Texas, the eclipse, Gatesville, or Coryell County. Artists are expected to explore various elements, including landscapes, culture, history, landmarks, people, and unique aspects that make this region special.

Multiple art forms will be accepted such as painting, drawing, photography, and sculptures, and artists may submit up to five pieces. The artwork submitted does not have to be new but must be original.

All the entries must have a brief description highlighting the inspiration and relevance to the theme of the exhibition.

Submission guidelines include:

  • Paintings and drawings should be ready for display and framed if necessary.
  • Sculptures should be easily transportable and not exceed 30 inches.
  • Photographs can be submitted either as prints or in digital form, adhering to the specified technical requirements.

To place your submission, email your artwork to candypetpalaceevents@gmail.com. Be sure to upload the images of your work, ensuring they meet the specified qualifications as well as providing a brief artist biography and description of each piece submitted.

The deadline for submission will be on Friday, March 1.

This event aims to foster creativity, showcase local talent, and bring people together through various art forms. Visitors will have an opportunity to appreciate the event, connect with artists, and may even purchase artwork during the exhibition.

This event serves as a platform for local artists to showcase their talent, engage with the community, and celebrate the remarkable features of this state, event, and the community.
