The “Citizen of the Year” award has been presented each year since 1959 to an outstanding citizen of the Gatesville community.

Every adult citizen of our community is eligible to nominate one or more persons who have made outstanding contributions to this community over a significant period. The 2022 Citizen of the Year will be presented at the 2023 Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting and Banquet on Saturday, Jan. 21.

Nominees who function within the guidelines and requirements of their paid position(s) are not considered. Only one nomination per individual will be considered regardless of the number of letters or signatures received nominating any individual. Anyone who makes a nomination should be available to assist with the presentation of the award.

Nominations were to be submitted by Friday, Jan. 6 at the Cotton Belt Depot Visitors Center. The Depot is located at 2307 S. Hwy 36 in Gatesville.
