CCSO wants to know about large gatherings for the eclipse

Posted

Ahead of the total solar eclipse on April 8, the Coryell County Sheriff’s Office is asking residents to let them know if they will expect a large gathering of people on their property, which will help their deputies respond to emergencies.

The sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post that if they know the locations of the gatherings, they can better stage deputies and resources to assist with any potential emergencies. They ask residents to notify them about gatherings with 25 or more people.

Because Gatesville is a prime viewing spot for the eclipse, the sheriff’s office said they are aware that many who reside or own property in the county will allow camping on their land.

Residents can contact the Coryell County Sheriff’s Office at 254-865-5911 ext. 530 or 531 or by email at CCSOdispatch@coryellsheriff.com.

“We want everyone to enjoy the eclipse celebrations safely,” the sheriff’s office wrote via Facebook.
