County employees support Breast Cancer awareness

Breast cancer is the most prevalent and most common cause of cancer-related deaths among Texas women.

It is estimated that over 17,000 new cases will occur in Texas this year alone.

Due to the statistics, that is why every October is designated as Breast Cancer Awareness month, a time when individuals and organizations throughout Texas and the United States work to foster an increased awareness of breast cancer, prevention options, and ongoing research for a cure.

Coryell County employees recently recognized Breast Cancer Awareness by wearing pink to work on Monday, Oct. 19.

Coryell County Clerk Jennifer Newton said this is the staff’s 8th annual Pink Out Day at the courthouse.

“Each year, we come together to wear pink and show our support for those fighting breast cancer, celebrate the survivors, and honor those we have lost,” said Newton. “In my years working for the county, I have watched several of our own go through this battle, and it is absolutely heartbreaking. While wearing pink may seem like a small gesture, it carries a powerful message. To those fighting, those who have survived, and the families who have lost loved ones, we want you to know you are not alone. We see you, we support you, and we stand with you.

“This is more than just a day to wear pink. It is a reminder that we are a community that cares for one another, and I hope this is a tradition we continue for many years to come.”
