A married pair of retired educators were formally recognized during the Monday, July 20, GISD school board meeting.
The first educator to be recognized was Betty Hines.
Betty began working for GISD in 1973 when she started teaching second grade. She remained in this position for roughly 25 years before becoming the elementary librarian from 1996 to 2014.
