The Coryell County Republican Party (CCRP) is pleased to announce the election of Colton Buckley as its new Chairman ahead of the highly-anticipated 2024 election. Buckley was elected to replace Tony Smith at the CCRP meeting prior to the annual CCRP Fish Fry, which was held on Saturday, Sept. 16, in Gatesville.

"I am honored to accept the position of Chairman for the Coryell County Republican Party and sincerely appreciate Tony Smith’s service to the party. We have a strong and dedicated group of Republicans in our county, and I look forward to working alongside them to advance our conservative values and support candidates who will champion our principles,” said Buckley.

Colton Buckley serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the National Association of Resource Conservation and Development Councils, a national nonprofit network dedicated to advancing agricultural conservation efforts and fostering rural economic development. In this capacity, he adeptly represents 180 RC&D councils spanning across 42 states. He also represents the Campus Victory Project, a conservative organization affiliated with Charlie Kirk of Turning Point USA, as their liaison to governors’ offices throughout the nation. Buckley has more than a decade of experience in campaign and non-profit management, and government relations.

In addition to serving as Coryell County Republican Party Chairman, Buckley is a former member of the board of trustees for the Texas Federation of College Republicans. In 2016, he proudly represented former President Donald J. Trump as a national delegate to the Republican National Convention. Notably, in 2014, Buckley became the youngest appointee of the longest-serving governor in Texas history, Rick Perry, when he was appointed Student Regent to the Texas A&M University System Board of Regents. He also led Texas Commissioner of Agriculture Sid Miller’s successful inaugural campaign for statewide office.

Buckley holds a bachelor's degree in agricultural services and development from Tarleton State University and a master's degree in communication from Liberty University. Currently, he is actively pursuing a PhD in public policy from the same institution. Beyond his professional endeavors, Mr. Buckley is an avid outdoorsman with a profound commitment to the rural communities of Texas. He resides in Arnett.
