Courthouse artifacts located at the Coryell Museum

Posted

In the days leading up to the 125th anniversary celebration of the Coryell County Courthouse, those interested might want to drop by the Coryell Museum and visit the “Courthouse Exhibit.”

The exhibit includes many historical photographs of the courthouse along with several artifacts including an original ornamental ball that was located on top of the courthouse, a rail from the courtroom of the original county courthouse, an electric light fixture with textured lavender stained glass which surrounded the courthouse in the 1930s – and even a metal spittoon that was located in a hallway of the courthouse.

The Coryell Museum is open from Wednesday until Saturday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. The museum is located at 718 E. Main Street in Gatesville.
