GISD graduate recognized for UIL award

A recent high school graduate was recognized during the Monday, June 22, GISD school board meeting for receiving a prestigious honor from the Texas University Interscholastic League (UIL).

Little Mr. Sterlin Shults was honored on his fifth birthday with a party Saturday afternoon at his grandparents Don and Sue Jones’ roping pen. The kids enjoyed the slip and slide and the bounce house. Those attending were family and friends. Mrs.

Losing an 1898 landmark business

Generations of Gatesville and Coryell County residents will always remember their experiences when visiting Leaird’s Department Store on the west side of the courthouse square. For many, those memories came rushing back as they watched or saw videos of the store engulfed in flames on March 16.
