The Texas Station Event Center has been serving the community since 2004, and within that time, the establishment has been renovating and coming up with new ways to attract visitors.
Recently, Dean Smith, owner of Texas Station, built two silo apartments as well as designed them and even decorated them with his all-time hobby, looking for unique, original antique signs.
“My dad, Dean Smith, is the true definition of an entrepreneur,” Mendez said. “When he gets these visions of building something, you can bet within a couple years, he will have it done.”
Mendez expressed that someone recently made a comment to Smith saying, "You're breed no longer exists.”
It only took Smith around two months to complete the silos without any help but his own.
“When he starts a project, you can bet he will work from sunup to sundown until it is finished,” Mendez said.
One of the silos is called the Farm House, while the other is named The Country Store Inn. Each silo features a queen bed as well as a bathroom.
The silos are available for daily, weekly, and weekend stays only at the cost of $300 per night with a three-night minimum.
Both silos have already been rented out in time for the eclipse by individuals traveling from out of state to view the celestial event including Maryland, Chicago, and Alabama.
“Our RV Park has guests staying with us from Colorado, Michigan, California, Kansas, Arkansas, South Dakota, Washington, Nevada, and a few other states,” Mendez said.
Both silos are in a wooded area within the same property and within walking distance of Texas Station.
“We rent the event center for weddings, reunions, parties, festivals, cookouts, retired military events, and more,” Mendez said. “So, he knew people would love to stay close to the venue on a weekend that is planned for whatever event they are having.”
