A man has been arrested on a charge of aggravated sexual assault after attacking a woman who was reported missing in early Sept.

According to court documents, James Robert Bolton used a phone app to track the woman’s location before the assault took place.

On Sept. 9 around 8:15 pm, deputies with the Coryell County Sheriff’s Office were called to the area of FM 107 after the woman’s family claimed they found her vehicle at a bridge near Coryell Creek. The woman was believed to be a possible victim of kidnapping.

Park rangers with Texas Parks and Wildlife and Coryell County deputies searched the area around the bridge and eventually located the woman in a nearby field.

According to Coryell County deputies, she was found with bruises and scratches on her body as well as dirt that appeared to be forced into her mouth. They said she was breathing, but in and out of consciousness.

Deputies said a park ranger administered a dose of Narcan because she appeared to be under the influence of some kind of narcotic, but she did not react to the Narcan.

Deputies add that she appeared to be in distress and would not talk to them.

The woman was transported to a hospital in Waco where she was treated for her injuries. Court records show a sexual assault exam was conducted, which revealed injuries consistent with sexual assault.

The woman told investigators that Bolton used a cell phone app to find her location and confirmed that he was the one who attacked and sexually assaulted her. When he found her, she said he struck her in the face with a stone, knocking her unconscious. She told authorities that she remembers him saying “he was going to teach her how to talk to him.”

She said Bolton became upset after she confronted him for having sexual relations with other women.

Records say Bolton and the woman had been in a previous relationship, and both had the app on their cell phones. It is unknown what app Bolton used to track her whereabouts.

A spokesperson for the Coryell County Sheriff’s Office said Bolton was arrested in Bell County. He was booked at the Coryell County Jail on Sept. 28 and is being held on a $500,000 bond, according to the Coryell County Jail roster.
