John and Kalinda Westbrook's home chosen for KBG's Yard of the Month for April

Posted

Keep Gatesville Beautiful recently chose the home and yard of John and Kalinda Westbrook at 1202 Bridge Street as their April Yard of the Month.

The Westbrooks, who have lived in this home for 22 years, recently had their yard landscaped by Green Life Nursery in Waco. Kalinda was the designer, and John, who Kalinda says has a green thumb, maintains it.

They purposely chose native plants for easy maintenance and survivability and deer proof plants, because so many deer frequent the neighborhood.

Their beautiful landscape includes various shade trees, including a Post Oak, Chinese Elm Tree, and lots of interesting plants - including Umbrella Sedge, Leopard plant, Carpet Sedum, Butterfly Guara, Abelia Shrub, Muley Grass, and a Wisteria Vine passed down from John's grandmother.

They also have a rain harvest barrel, a bench in the sun, and a swing in the shade making it a great place to relax. There is a delightful scene at each new turn with this yard.

Thank you, Kalinda and John, for helping keep Gatesville beautiful!
