The United States general election on Tuesday, Nov. 5, is quickly approaching, and the deadline for voter registration as well as early voting begins in October. Here are a few dates to keep in mind:
Voter registration
The deadline to register to vote is Oct. 7. Texas law requires that eligible voters register at least 30 days before Election Day.
Register to vote by filling out a voter registration application on VoteTexas.gov. Residents can update their voter registration information online or when renewing their driver’s license.
Residents can check their registration status or change their name or address by visiting the ‘My Voter Portal’ through the Texas Secretary of State’s website or VoteTexas.gov.
To be eligible to vote in Texas, you must be a United States citizen, a resident of the county where you register, and at least 18 years old on Election Day, according to the Texas Secretary of State.

Residents can vote at any county-wide location on Election Day (November 5) regardless of the precinct. Voting locations will open on Tuesday, Nov. 5, from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.
