The Gatesville Pickleball Club recently hosted a Turkey Slam Pickleball tournament at the Gatesville Civic Center on Sunday, Nov. 24, in light of Thanksgiving approaching. Twenty-one teams across all divisions participated in the tournament with all ages and skill levels.
This was a doubles tournament, meaning that a partner was needed to participate in the event. The format was a round robin tournament, which means you must win two out of the three games, with the first two games rallying the score to 15, and the third game rallying the score to 11.
In the Recreation Division, first place went to Brennan Mata and Raymond Inman. Second place went to Ed Petrow and Ken Whited.
In the Intermediate Division, first place went to Ben Mabry and Jenny Mabry. Second place went to Kylie Dixon and Paige Baize.
In the Competitive Division, first place went to Alex Scott and Jeffrey Shonkwiler, while second place went to Cort Dixon and Chance Taylor.
The Gatesville Pickleball Club and Kylie Dixon of Benchmark Mortgage accepted food and household item donations from players and spectators to benefit the Gatesville Senior Center.
For each item donated, participants were given raffle tickets for a chance to win gift cards to the Green Rooster Coffee Co. and La Hacienda Mexican Grill, which were also graciously donated.
