The Oglesby Tigers traveled to Jonesboro on Tuesday, Jan. 21, to take on the Jonesboro Eagles in a District 26A contest.
The Tigers had defeated the Eagles earlier in the first round but came up short as the Eagles hit a last second shot to take a 71-70 victory. This tied both teams for the lead in District 26A. If both teams win out in the second round, they will have to hold a playoff game to determine the District 26A winner.
Both teams played well throughout the contest in a very competitive and close game.
Freshman Holdyn Goff topped all scores tonight, hitting 28 points, eight rebounds, three assists, five steals, and one blocked shot.
Senior Alex Castillo scored 15 points and had two assists and two steals.
Freshman Evan Williamson dropped in 10 points and had two steals.
Senior Kyler Fossett added seven points and had three rebounds, two assists, and four steals.
Junior Jack Hendricks scored five points and had four rebounds, one assist, and one steal.
Sophomore Abraham Shaw had five points.
Sophomore Tucker Melton grabbed one rebound.
The Oglesby Tigers also hosted the Aquilla Cougars on Friday, Jan. 24.
The Tigers started off strong and took control, defeating the Cougars, 60-32. In game two of the second round of District 26A action, the entire team contributed playing as a cohesive unit. The Tigers continue to improve each game.
The Tigers were without senior Kyler Fossett, due to an Injury.
Freshman Holdyn Goff was the leading scorer tonight with a double/double of 17 points, 14 rebounds, two assists, and one steal.
Freshman Evan Williamson scored 15 points on the night, including four three-pointers.
Senior Alex Castillo continues to improve, while scoring 14 points, including three three-pointers, five rebounds, three assists, and one steal.
Junior Jack Hendricks scored seven points and had four rebounds and four steals.
Sophomore Abram Shaw continues to improve while scoring four points and three rebounds.
Sophomore Tucker Melton scored three points and had three rebounds.
Junior Jordan Smith saw ample playing time for the Tigers.
The Tigers traveled to Evant on Tuesday, Jan. 28 to compete in another District 26A matchup. The Tigers started out slow but pulled away in the second half to take a 53-33 victory.
Evan Williamson led all scorers, hitting 18 points with two assists and one steal.
Holdyn Goff dropped in 14 points with eight rebounds, three assists, and four steals.
Abram Shaw scored eight points and had four steals.
Alex Castillo scored six points with eight rebounds and five steals.
Jack Hendricks scored five points, had four rebounds, two assists, and one blocked shot.
Tucker Melton had four rebounds and one steal.
Jordan Smith scored two points with four rebounds and one steal.
