One of the suspects involved in the murder of 61-year-old Martin William Davis was recently indicted by a Coryell County Grand Jury on a capital murder charge.

Gatesville resident Treavor Lovell Ford, 33, was indicted on the charge in October for the attempted robbery and the shooting death of Davis. Two other suspects in the case, Shawn Michael Smith-Brearey, 23, and Scott Allen Harkcom, 35, have also been indicted on charges of murder and are awaiting trial.

Coryell County District Attorney Dusty Boyd said in an email that Ford’s trial date is currently set for Nov. 18. However, Boyd said the trial might get set back since Smith-Breary’s trial is set for the same date.

The incident occurred on March 26, 2023, at about 9:36 p.m. in the 1600 block of Waco Street. According to a previous news release by the Gatesville Police Department, Davis arrived home from H-E-B and was unloading groceries from his vehicle when three people wearing face masks and hoodies approached Davis from the street.

At least one suspect fired the fatal shot, and then all three fled to the south from the residence, police said.
Police found Davis with gunshot wounds, lying on the ground outside of the front door of a residence. EMS personnel were unable to revive the victim.

Ford was also previously indicted on a first degree murder charge in June 2023.

All three suspects are currently being held at the Coryell County Jail. Ford is held on a $638,000 bond.
