We extend our deepest condolences to the family of Janee Wilkinson Beck as she passed away on March 20, after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Beck was a beloved educator in the Copperas Cove school district and cherished family member of many in Pearl. She will be greatly missed.
New for the April 5 bookstore day is the following: Kay will have plants on the front porch. Kay is famous far and wide for her green thumb. Get there early as you don’t want to miss purchasing any of these treasures! (The store usually opens around 10 a.m., but sometimes you can catch one of the sweet ladies a bit earlier.) There will also be brand name, high-end costume jewelry available in the bookstore at excellent prices. The stunning pieces were big sellers last month, and supplies are limited. Additionally, the bookstore has many XXL Cinch shirts (some with Pearl snaps), new and like new, for $6 each; new and like new quality brand men’s t-shirts, XXL, $3; and a men’s denim jacket with a suede collar, XXL, $7. Tell your friends. All proceeds from the sales at the Pearl Cottage Bookstore go to local charities. This charity bookstore is a worthwhile shopping experience. Oh, and there are books galore!
While you’re at the Pearl Cottage Bookstore, be sure and go to the Pearl Bluegrass event and eat in the Bluegrass Kitchen. The kitchen opens at 11 a.m. with delicious, reasonably priced, homemade food. There’s pie! You just cannot go wrong by eating lunch or getting a snack in that famous kitchen. Plus, all proceeds go toward the upkeep of and bills for the Pearl Community Center. Then, you can step across the hall and attend the free stage show, which begins at 1 p.m. As always, jamming goes on throughout the building all day long. If you know of an acoustic band that would like to play on stage, send them to Pearl. All they have to do is sign up in the hallway for their time to play. If you have questions while you’re there, see Garrett Dickey (President of the Pearl Community Center Board) or Chris Ray (Vice president of the Pearl Community Center Board). Those friendly young men are glad to help. See you in Pearl soon!
Pearl Church of Christ has announced the dates for its annual VBS this year: May 28 through June 2, from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. each day. Everyone is welcome. Bring a carload of kids for a great day in Pearl!
Some of our local teachers have enjoyed a wonderful spring break catching up on their many projects around their places. Well, maybe “enjoyed” is not the concise word here. “Endured” may be more apropos. Actually, some of them have very helpful parents that are ready for their young’uns to go back to work. One of the teachers said that he will be glad to go back to the classroom so he can rest. If you’re driving around Pearl, be sure and see if you can spot things like new fences and cleared pastures. You will definitely be impressed with the hard-working Pearl peeps and the results of their…vacation?
This week’s Bible verse comes from Colossians 1:16,17—For in Him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. NIV
