Pearl Church of Christ to celebrate 129th Homecoming

Posted

Tomorrow, Oct. 20, is the Pearl Church of Christ’s 129th Homecoming. Everyone is invited. Dr. Charles Patterson will be the speaker, and there will be a catered lunch following the service. Plaques for the longest attending member, the youngest attending that day, the oldest attending that day, the longest married couple, and the farthest traveled that day will be given. You don’t want to miss this important event. Bring family, friends, and those you just met to Pearl Church of Christ. The friendliness of this church is unparalleled. You will be so glad you came.

The next quarterly meeting of the Pearl Community Center board will be Oct. 28, at 6:30 p.m. in the dining room of the Community Center. All are invited to attend.

Thank you to Rhonda, Garrett, and Cooper Dickey, Susan and Tim Perkins, and Ronald Ray for your hard work during the Pearl Cemetery Workday last Saturday. You are greatly appreciated!

The Oct. 5 Bluegrass and Bookstore Day was absolutely wonderful! Everyone reported that they saw loads of old friends and made many new friends as well. The Bluegrass Kitchen sold all of their delicious homemade food, with their Chicken Spaghetti being their hottest item. In fact, several people have said that this spaghetti is now famous in several counties! The Pearl Cottage Bookstore ladies said that it was such a sweet day in Pearl, especially since Mimi, the bookstore mascot, joined them. However, the ladies are a bit jealous as Mimi, adorable in her Halloween tutu, got most of the attention. Next year, the ladies said they are going to wear Halloween tutus to see if they can compete with Mimi. Did you see the group’s adorable picture in their witchy hats on the front page of The Gatesville Messenger last week? By the way, if the hat fits, ladies - don’t worry, they told me to say that! The bookstore crew also asked me to extend a giant-sized Pearl thank you to Mr. Scott (aka David) and The Gatesville Messenger for always supporting Pearl, the Pearl Bluegrass event, and the Pearl Cottage Bookstore. You are all greatly appreciated!

The next Pearl Bluegrass event and Pearl Cottage Bookstore Day is Nov. 2. The jamming at the Bluegrass goes on all day, and the stage show begins at 1 p.m. Admission is free. The Bluegrass Kitchen opens at 11 a.m. and closes at 4 p.m., cash only. If you would like to play on the stage, just show up with your band and sign up on the board outside the kitchen. Garrett and Chris will be glad to answer any questions you may have. The bookstore opens at 9 a.m. and closes at 3 p.m. There’s no place like Pearl, and you don’t want to miss any first Saturday event! Bring friends!

This week’s Bible verse comes from John 6:68—Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words that give eternal life.” Good News Translation
