The Pearl Cottage Bookstore reports two good days during the Pearl Flea Market event last weekend.
The ladies surely enjoyed visiting with Ruth Ann Johnson and her son and Ruth McGaugh and her daughter! Linda, Kay and Corlissa greatly appreciate the patronage and support of all the Bookstore visitors! Go in as customers and leave as friends! Remember, all purchases and donations support the store’s local charities. Therefore, you’re not only getting something new and different for yourself but you’re also helping others as well! The next Bookstore and Pearl Bluegrass event is scheduled for May 6. Mark your calendars!
Pearl has enjoyed wonderful spring showers lately! Everyone reports that the bluebonnets are still beautiful, so be sure to take a leisurely drive to the Pearl area to enjoy the flora and fauna!
We wish to extend our sympathy to the family of Tech Newton, who passed away on April 14. Mr. Newton’s services were held on Monday, April 17, at the Eastview (Newton Family) Cemetery. Mr. Newton’s sister was Mrs. Oleta Hahn, who was a Pearl resident for many years. Tech still has many relatives in the Pearl area.
Last week, I let you know that the first week in May is Teacher’s Appreciation Week. Well, I just realized that it is also Nurse’s Appreciation Week, too!! (It was a “well, duh” moment when Linda reminded me of that, and I greatly apologize for the oversight!!) What we would do without all of these wonderful people? I think nurses love chocolate as much as teachers (wink, wink, hint, hint)! Plus, along with that, May 4 is the National Day of Prayer, and I am sure nurses and teachers would love to be included in your prayer time even more than getting chocolate!
Pearl Church of Christ has announced its annual Vacation Bible School dates: May 29 through June 2, from 9 a.m. to noon. Please share this information with your friends and family. Everyone is welcome!
It was reported that many visitors to the bookstore have been asking about the itsy bitsy, teeny weeny, turquoise greeny, stringy bikini. I am here to tell you that the bad news bikini is in its resting place at the bookstore and doing well — for the time being.
I would not hold my breath as to how long the trepidatious trappings will be content to behave themselves on the bookstore wall, right above the Christian reading section. It seems that its last venture with Kay to Raby Park in Gatesville simply exhausted the petulant paraphernalia. It remains to be seen what this piece of flippant frippery will do next. Oh, and who it will do it to!! Summer is approaching, so watch out, dear readers! Stringy bikinis can be awful meanies!!
This week’s Bible verse comes from Romans 1:20 — “For since the creation of the world, God’s invisible qualities — His eternal power and divine nature — have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. (NIV)
